"Experience in dealing with strange environments, isolation, and challenging situations enhances the individual's ability to deal with a new set of problems. People with such experience are better able to recognize, and thus avoid, potentially dangerous situations. People who rarely do or try anything out of the ordinary are more likely to be erring or helpless in a strange situation." -Analysis of Lost Person Behavior by William G. Syrotuck (NASAR)

We want you to succeed at this school. Here are a few tips to help you prepare:

Physical Conditioning

Steadily increase the frequency, duration, and intensity of your workouts until you can comfortably perform 20 push-ups and run a mile in at least double time. If you are already at that level, keep working out.

YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM TO ATTEND CSS.

Spend a good amount of time swimming laps, treading water, and swimming underwater before you come to CSS.

If you are looking for a place to get ideas for work outs, the instructors suggest www.crossfit.com

THERE WILL BE EXTENSIVE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AT CSS. THE MORE FIT YOU ARE THE BETTER OFF YOU WILL BE.

Mental Conditioning

Go to the following website and take ALL of the First Aid and CPR quizzes. Print them out and bring them to CSS. Eternal fame and glory to the person who gets 100% on all of them.
